Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pale Silver Gray and Or on a pale three roundels in pale all per pale counterchanged, on a chief Or a stylized mountain peak Azure snowcapped Argent. Attached above the shield a Blue scroll inscribed "MOUNTAIN" and attached below the shield a Blue scroll doubled and inscribed "PAYMASTERS" all in Gold.

Symbolism
Silver gray and golden yellow are the colors traditionally associated with the Finance Corps. Gold signifies excellence and achievement. Blue is symbolic of loyalty. White denotes integrity. The counterchanged colors symbolize flexibility. The mountain implies strength and support. The three roundels allude to coins and are divided into two colors to suggest the designation of the Battalion, "33."

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 October 1993. It was amended to correct the description on 22 October 1993.
